Blow the candles out
It is someone’s birthday at Macdonald’s and a melting cake is rushed
To the crying child
Ten candles burning bright
‘Blow out the candles Davie,’
Says the eager mother looking for a good photo shot
‘There’s a good boy’
He sits there and begins to whimper
‘Come on Davy, love’
No response
‘C’mon you little swine, blow the bloody candles out’
Threats getting louder
Davie bursts into tears
Some birthday this is turning out to be he thinks staring into his mothers eyes
Thank goodness Dad is not here.
