But why is Ed a Frog?

Frogs need a healthy environment to survive, if they are under stress then so is the environment. They are small, jumpy, appealing and noisy, just when you want peace and quiet they are persistent in singing their song. Frogs can be found in places frogs were never meant to go (found one in the toilet bowl once). As tadpoles they seem developmentally slow and clumsy, comparEd to the fish in the school, that’s because, they neEd extra time to feel their feet. The fish would see them as dreamers because their thoughts would be somewhere outside the pond in a place that fish can only glimpse occasionally, but will never go. Frogs eat mozzies; those bloodsucking insects that while sucking you dry can leave you exhaustEd, confusEd and overheatEd (malaria/bureaucracy). A very small frog can make a very big ripple and you never quite know where the ripple will stop. Yes frogs are very like our children we love them warts and all, we know that they can turn into princes - they only have to be kissed.

Ed has come from the great need for a lightheartEd, image of children with ADHD to combat the negative, sensationalist and inaccurate representation displayed in the media. Who can face criticism daily from school, home and the media and not be affectEd, yet we expect children to take this in their stride? These children desperately need positive images to relate to. Constant ridicule and blaming does a great deal of damage to the self-esteem of those already struggling with the neurological disabilities of ADHD.

I hope you enjoy ED and his antics.
