Jamuna River Development Project (Sandbar) Symbiosis Bangladesh

by Chris Pittendrigh and  Morris Lee

The Jamuna River Project of Symbiosis Bangladesh is situated in the midst of the mighty Jamuna River on one of the many major sandbanks, which are found in the river. People live a precarious existence on these deposits of alluvium, which at the whim of the river can be washed away in the same way that they were formed. The following pictures are of the project. They were taken in late March 2004

During the visit, it was particularly pleasing to have people from the area express their gratitude that an organisation would come to the area to do the sort of programme that we are doing. They were so glad to have school operating in their area.
