A national competition to commemorate the International Year of Older Persons 1999
TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms and conditions of entry.
2. Entries close 5.00pm Friday October 8th, 1999
3. You may submit your entry by (a) email to ac99nat@cota.org.au , OR
(b) post to "Time of Your Life", Australian Coalition '99, Level 2, 3 Bowen Crescent, Melbourne, Vic 3004.
Don't forget to include your name, age, year level, name of your school, and school address & phone number.
4. Entry is open to all Australian school students aged between 9 and 18 as at 1st August, 1999.
5. Essays must be the personal work of students; work that is seen to be plagiarised or written by another will render the entry void.
6. Entries must be typed or neatly handwritten and not more than 1 000 words.
7. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
8. The Judging Panel comprises: the Hon Bronwyn Bishop, Minister for Aged Care; Samantha Harrison, Features Editor of Australian Women's Weekly; Delys Sargeant of Australian Coalition '99, Helen Elliott, freelance journalist.
9. The top three entrants of each age group will receive an IBM Aptiva personal computer valued at $1,799.00 including: AMD K6-2 380MHz processor, 32MB RAM, 4GB Hard disk drive, 40X CD-ROM drive, AGP 2X Graphics card, K56 modem, 15" Colour monitor & bundled software includes: Full version of Lotus Smartsuite Millenium (word processor, spreadsheet, etc), Quicken 98 (financial tool), IBM World Book 99 multimedia encyclopaedia, IBM Update Connector, IBM Access Aptiva ( a serious Internet tool - "walks consumers through" the set-up of an internet account), Safety suite for peace of mind - PC Doctor, Norton Antivirus, Configsafe. The winners' school libraries win $600 worth of books from Collins Booksellers. Runners up win $100 gift vouchers from Collins Booksellers and $50 gift vouchers from The Body Shop
10. The prizes cannot be transferred to cash.
11. A Special Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday 5 November in Canberra. The winning students will be flown to Canberra and personally awarded by the Minister for Aged Care, the Hon Bronwyn Bishop.
12. The entries of both winners and runners-up will be enclosed in a time-capsule to be buried in Canberra, not to be opened until the year 2050!
13. Selected entries will be posted on this site prior to the close of competition. Australian Coalition '99 reserves the right to promote the winning entries to the Australian community as part of the International Year of Older Persons until 30 April 2000.
