MEDIA RELEASE Tuesday 29th September

WORLD-WIDE CELEBRATION:

The International Day of Older Persons -1st October 1999.

But our festivities start early.
On Thursday 30th September 1999 at 10.30am we are holding a media launch at Tesselaar's Tulip Farm with sparkling Chandon, glorious tulips, delicious morning tea by Food and Desire Productions, and Lavazza Coffee.

And John Howard (Bob Jelly), Jill Forster (Meredith Monahan) and Alan Cassell (Harold Fitzwalter) from the acclaimed TV series, "Seachange" will present an annotation to life concerning age and the actor.

The Body Shop will also release a snapshot of significant research about what ordinary Australians think about ageing- it could be seen as a comment about why we need a Year called International Year of Older Persons.

"Health only rated in the top five themes of the 81 - 90 age group, otherwise health was not a key theme to emerge from the comments."

"Participants under 20 were more concerned about the physical changes of ageing particularly in relation to wrinkles."

What role does the media have in attitudes towards ageing? Come and discover for yourself what the issues are about at the media launch.

For further details call Helen Elliott (03) 9877 9042 or Lisa Ellis (03) 98204463 or 0417 591109. For comment from The Body Shop, call Vickie Burkinshaw on (03) 9565 0500 or mobile 0417 410 910
