Speech Pathology Australia is the national professional association for speech pathologists - the professionals who assess and treat communication and swallowing difficulties. We are a not for profit organisation with approximately 2600 members. Speech pathologists work with older people who may have problems following a stroke, degenerative diseseas, dementia, etc.

Plans for 1999
The theme for speech pathology week this year is communication and the older person. We will create fact sheets, briefing papers and media releases to support our approaches to government and the media.
Our clinical magazine, ACQ, will have a feature section on communication and the older speaker in the June edition.
