The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) is the national representative body for Local Government in Australia. ALGA is constituted as a federation of local government associations in the six states and the Northern Territory. Local government is extensively involved in the provision of services to aged and frail persons through the HACC Program. Councils also resource and support senior citizens centres, meals on wheels, libraries and activity centres for the aged and senior citizens weeks.
