Computer clubs for Seniors are a popular and rapidly expanding activity both in Australia and Internationally. Commencing in the early 80's to familiarise older people with the basics of Windows and other software programs before venturing into the world of communications. Their main aims are to encourage the usage of computers amongst seniors and people with disabilities, to empower seniors by providing new learning opportunities and enhancing their lifestyle and increase self esteem and independence, expand their current communications opportunities and bridge the intergenerational gap through the use of computer technology. Plans for 1999 include the 2nd Australian Computer Seminar for Seniors to be held at Menzies Hotel in Sydney on 5 May 1999.
