The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards is an independent not-for-profit organisation, is dedicated to continually improving the quality of health care in Australia. Its aim was to develop a national system of accreditation for hospitals. Their services include supporting health care organisations through implementation of quality improvement, continual development and review of quality standards and guidelines in consultation with industry, national education programs, resource material and library and information services. The Council is currently working on the development of "Guidelines for Residential Aged Care" to supplement the standards of the ACHS Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program.
