The Royal College of Nursing Australia is a national professional organisation with political influence and a broad focus which represents nurses. The College is very committed to aged care. It is demonstrated this with the formation of the Gerontic Society, the publication of a discussion document on ageism and presentation of workshops on aged care. In 1999 the College is involved in specific initiatives in relation to ageing and aged care, including publication of a book in The Royal College of Nursing Australia and presentation of a forum on aged care nursing in March 1999.
