The priorities of the CWA are to enable the seven member associations to speak with one voice on National and International matters and work for the improvement of the welfare and conditions of women and their families in country areas. Currently the Association has representation on The National Rural Health Alliance, Rural Training Council of Australia, Farmsafe Australia, Consumer Telecommunications Network Council, Rural Women's Advisory Group within the DPIL, National Youth Suicide Prevention Committee, Project Committee with the Australian, Banker's Association, the Department of Family Services for IYOP and the Postal Services Consultative Council of Australia Post.

In 1999, the CWA, together with the Australian Bankers Trust and the Department of Family Services, will run forums for older people to explain electronic and telephonic banking.
