Baptist Community Care began in 1945 with the establishment of Strathalan Baptist Homes for the Aged in Macleod. In 1960 it became the Social Services Department of The Baptist Union of Victoria and in 1995 was incorporated as Baptist Community Care, remaining the main social services and welfare agency of the Baptist denomination in Victoria.

Baptist Community Care has over 650 staff and operates eight residential communities for older people, two family support and counselling programs, domiciliary nursing and community housing, as well as Bargain Centres and Baptist Catering
