HINS is a non-profit, charitable institute established by the Heinz company in the United States in 1986. In Australia, it was established in 1995, and is run by an independent board, comprising representative from industry, academia and research institutions. The mission of HINS is to advance the knowledge and practice of nutrition with the goal of ensuring the nutritional well being of emerging generations.
