National Ageing & Research Institute
P O Box 31
PARKVILLE VIC 3052
The National Ageing Research Institute has been established to help people age
well through continuing research into biological aspects of ageing. NARI has projects
established to include clinics to examine and
monitor memory loss, pain management, and
falls and balance, and devise and implement improved treatment and management strategies for
clients and their carers. NARI, in collaboration with the Royal Melbourne
Hospital, is
involved in research projects including delivery of the Aged Care Assessment Service
(ACAS) and studies into the causes and treatments of osteoporosis. They are also in
collaboration with the Lincoln Centre
for Gerontology and conducting a study funded by the
Victorian Health Promotion Foundation into the health status of older people. NARI research is
networked to world health authorities, specialists in geriatric
medicine and gerontology and
the elderly in all states and territories. NARI research directly influences government policy
in relation to health care services and providers for the elderly and their carers.
