A sense of authority was evident from comments made by this group. Reflection on what they had and what opportunities still awaited them were frequently commented on. This group valued their wisdom, with wisdom out-weighing the losses associated with ageing. Family and friends were frequently mentioned in these comments, with many glad to have the time and desire to build on their relationships and pass on their knowledge. For some, fear of the next stages of ageing were expressed in the comments. Fear was usually associated with loss of mobility and independence, this was supported by the priority placed on freedom by this group.
