Gamma Project Resources

Since the inception of our outreach education programs, it has been the policy of the Australian Bisexual Men's Association to publish data and reports which reflect the work of the Gamma Project and which address the issues and concerns of it's clients. The majority of these resources have been produced as a direct result of the expressed needs of our client groups and the healthcare workers who provide assistance to bisexual men and their female partners.

We have produced a number of resources, which are intended to educate healthcare workers and others who work with our client group, about the needs of bisexual men and their female partners. Some of these resources are suitable for use in education programs designed to educate the general public or specific professional groups who may have little understanding of bisexuality and the issues associated with a bisexual identity. While the issues relating to HIV / AIDS and STDs are considered in these resources the sociological and psychological isssues which are pertinent to providing assistance to bisexual men and their female partners are also highlighted.

We have also produced a number of resources which are intended to educate bisexual men and their female partners about sexual health issues. While widespread publicity has been given to the issues surrounding HIV / AIDS there is very little focus on general sexual health and the transmission of other Sexually Transmitted Diseases through activities which are generally considered safe in respect of HIV transmission. The notion of latent STD infections in female partners of bisexual men is an important issue which has been addressed through these resources. While we have received some Government assistance in the production of some of our resource material, most of the resources are funded through direct sales of the resources to healthcare workers and others in the community. Small quantities of pamphlets ( up to ten) are provided free. To order resources please print out the order form and return it to our office.

The kit contains a range of practical workshop activities designed to examine the attitudes towards bisexuality which are current in the general community and provides information which addresses many of the misconceptions regarding bisexuals and bisexual behaviour.

This kit will benefit those working with a bisexual clientele, those who conduct HIV related workshops for healthcare professionals, and those whose work in the general community includes the provision of HIV /AIDS education programs. The cost of the kit is A$25.00

In 1997 the project staff ran a series of highly succesful workshop programs for health care workers and counsellors who provide services to bisexual men and their female partners. Case Studies: Female Partners

This publication examines the issues of male bisexuality from the perspective of the female partner. These women describe their feelings and experiences following the discovery that their male partner is bisexual. The women’s reactions to the discovery and the way in which they consider their options in deciding whether or not to continue in the relationships are also considered.

This publication documents a variety of responses expressed by women including anger, guilt, issues relating to fidelity and issues relating to self esteem. The specific issues which need to be addressed when assisting the female partners of bisexual men are also examined. The cost of this resource is A$20.00

Counselling the female partners of biexual men can be a challenging process which requires a patient approach to a range of issues, over some of which the women may have little or no control. This resource highlight some of the areas of concern, particularly in relation to sexual health issues for women.
