Daylesford Gold-Mining and 'Pasta Factory'
14th-15th October 2000

Cutting.jpg (7331 bytes) This cutting was constructed using horse and human power.
FolkOnBridge.jpg (14966 bytes) Bridge over the cutting - it was a rather damp day.
Tunnel05.jpg (7054 bytes) This beautifully constructed brick-lined tunnel is not likely to be found accidentally.
Tunnel_Inside02.jpg (5382 bytes) Built in the late gold era, it remains in excellent condition.
Macaroni_Door01.jpg (4656 bytes) The 'Pasta Factory' at Hepburn Spa is a wonderful old building, with murals on the ceilings and a history of Italians in Australia. Note the two beam ends above the doorway, apparently for a portico that was never built.
MacaroniCellar.jpg (7100 bytes) Under the Pasta Factory is a cellar, complete with a nave.
JubilieeBridge.jpg (8015 bytes) Bridge at Jubilee Lake.
MinedOutHill.jpg (16147 bytes) The higher level of the 'island' is the original land surface - swathes of dirt were 'paddocked out' in the search for gold.
GrindingCircle.jpg (13552 bytes) A horse once trod this circle.
DamStitch.jpg (11403 bytes) Dam made in gold era, still holding strong.
