Gariwerd (the Grampians)
November 11th&12th, 2007

The Convoy sets off, Sunday morning; somewhere past the hiding elephant.
Clear evidence of the hot fires which burnt through here.
A weed was discovered and removed.
A more welcome plant was discovered; and is Worshiped by Leigh.
Cousin It is discovered hiding out in Gariwerd
Billimina rock shelter; lines and shapes. The ochre has stained the wall, and what we are seeing is not the original ochre but the marks left in the rock. There are various theories as to the meaning of the vertical lines. They were all done in one session - they are not counting scores.

We walked back via the waterfall, which had a little water flowing. Ron:
The photographer photographed.
Lunch at the pleasant camp site.
A Grass Tree and Sally
The gods did play with dice, but left them lying about.
Advance of the brave explorers...
Manya, or Manja (That's an English decision.)

Over in the Black Range, Ron Expounds,
While others rest.

Ben waiting for the slow ones. (Sorry Ben.)
Cave of the Young Hands. And claws.

Traditional viewing cage.

New viewing cage. If only they'd spend this much money on the archeology!
Some blow-in's contribution is noted from removel.
What will future archaeologists make of this?
Lunch time, near Bunjil and his dogs.
Eirene took a more in-grown seat.
Bunjil and his dogs. While it was known that the original work was here, some schoolboys 'enhanced' it nearly a century ago.
Langi Ghiran.
