Modelling the VR Belgian R Class

Some Pictures of the Model in Progress

The tender chassis with the motor and drive shaft, together with the tender superstructure.
The two main parts of the tender united.
Loco superstructure and chassis. The shaft with the worm is driven by a universal coupling from the tender.
Loco superstructure and chassis united. Now for all the detail bits, both for the tender and the loco!
The chimney, fabricated from brass tube and washers, soldered and trued up in the lathe.
The dome, showing its characteristic (and unique to the VR) tapered outline. This component was turned in the lathe from brass rod and then bored out from the bottom. A piece of sheet brass was cut to form the lip around the bottom and soldered on.
The parts are now complete and ready for final assembly.
< The locomotive is ready for painting.
