About the VMRS
Who Are We?
The Victorian Model Railway society is the senior model railway group in the state of Victoria, Australia and is based in the city of Melbourne.
The membership of the society represents a large range of experience and knowledge of both prototype and model railways. There are members who are current railway employees and ex-VR employees. A real feature of the VMRS is the willingness with which this information is shared amongst the members either as part of our formal presentations or during a chat and a cuppa at the end of the monthly meetings.
What Do We Do?
There is an emphasis amongst our members on modelling Victorian prototype and the majority scale is HO but there are club members who are active modellers in the following scales and prototypes.
- WAGR to 3/16" scale and 16.5mm gauge (Sn3.5)
- VR and SAR to 4mm scale and 18 mm gauge, representing 5' 3"
- SAR to 4mm scale and 14m gauge, representing 3'6"
- VR to 1/4" scale and 1.25" gauge
- US prototype to 1/4" scale and 1.25" gauge
- VR Narrow gauge in O (1/4")
- VR in N scale
