Thanks Michelle and Elaine for the ride during the week, it was
great to get on the bike again. The weather wasn't too bad even though
David Blyde was trying his best to put a Moz on our day! We'll have

For those going to Tassie, TT Lines are getting new straps for
bikes going across on the boat. There are pictures of the straps on the
Cradle Coast 2006AGM web site. To find go to main Ulysses web site and follow
the links. I have got a strap same as they are going to use and I will try
to remember to bring it to next social night in case anyone wants to have

Motorcycle Marshals needed for Around The Bay Bicycle Ride October
16th 2005. Bicycle Victoria runs the Around The Bay Ride to raise funds
for the Smith Family. Last year over $250,000 was raised to assist them
to provide services to the needy. Twelve Motorcycle Marshals are needed
to help direct and assist riders, and offer 1st Aid during the event. You
need your own bike and a willingness to spend a long day helping people
raise money for a very good cause. Fuel, food, I.D. vests, souvenir t-shirts,
1st aid supplies & equipment are provided. If you are able to help,

Ladies and Gentlemen (do they still exist)I have just met with
the Internationally famous WEG, that's right the Herald - Sun cartoonist.He
has agreed to submit a WEG style interpretation for our Rally badge and
patch which will hopefully be on display at our Yarra Ranges Ulysses A.G.M.
for all to see (admire). He has also graciously agreed to attend our Rally
and will be doing poster size caricatures for Ulyssians, what a keepsake
that will be! Just to talk with the man alone is quite an experience with
his history and knowledge of yester years then to know that this Aussie
icon is still alive and well really does make your day, just to listen to
him. May I take this opportunity to publicly thank you, WEG, on behalf of
the members of the Yarra Ranges Ulyssians for your time and input to what
will be a great annual event in the Ulysses Calender.

Dangerous Road Surface. Ringwood-Warrandyte Rd. (Melways Map 23
G11). The section of Ringwood-Warrandyte Rd shown as YARRA ST between Mullens
St and the roundabout (West Bound) in Warrandyte has become particularly
Dangerous especially for Motorcycles. The surface has extremely smooth wheel
ruts which are very slippery even with a small amount of moisture. If trying
to avoid the ruts the Danger is then sharp lumps on the Center hump which
catch the front wheel causing rapid changes in direction. The Lumps seem
to be caused by vehicle coming onto the road from Driveways. I ride that
section of road 5 days a week and even at 40kph I still get caught out occasionally.
And I know the lumps are there.

Those members who knew Vance Bailey will be saddened to hear of
his sudden passing on Tuesday. Vance was the driver of those very successful
Whittlesea Branch Thursday rides. For those wishing to accompany Vance on
his last ride, he will be leaving Glen Funerals 33 Commercial Drv Thomastown
