A history of Tarnagulla and Districts.
Centre of the Victorian Goldfields, Australia.
The following pages contain the David Gordon Index. This is an index of the Tarnagulla Courier and other regional newspapers.
The index covers a wide range of family names and general interest topics and is a wonderful reference source for those interested in exploring the Tarnagulla Courier and associated newspapers from around the district. Under each heading you will find the date of each newspaper article accompanied by a brief precis of the article itself.
The index was compiled over many years by David Gordon, and we are indebted to David for his generosity in sharing his research with us.
The Tarnagulla Courier was published between 19 Nov 1864 and 5th June 1869. After this date it became known as the Tarnagulla and Llanelly Courier and continued to be published from 12th June 1869 until 20th December 1920. For its final two years it was known as the Loddon Valley Courier and Farmers Advocate. The State Library of Victoria has a full set of microfilm for these newpapers if you wish to further explore any of these articles referenced. The Bendigo Regional Library also has microfilm, as does the Prahran Mechanics Institute.
The following abbreviations are used within these documents;
TC - Tarnagulla Courier
IA - Inglewood Advertiser
MDA - Maryborough and Dunolly Advertiser
DBCE - Dunolly and Burnt Creek Express
DTSE - Dunolly, Tarnagulla and St Arnaud Express
If you have found any of these indices useful, your feedback is encouraged via the Tarnagulla mailing group or personally to David.
