The Angela Taylor Memorial Run

Race Information

At 1pm on Thursday the 27th March 1986 a car bomb exploded outside the police complex in Russell Street, Melbourne. Apart from the massive amount of damage, estimated at over a million dollars, the bomb left 22 people injured. Of these injured people, a young female police constable, Angela Taylor, took the full force of the explosion. Angela sustained shocking injuries and burns to most of her body. For 24 agonising days she fought for her life, but tragically on April 20th the 21 year old police constable, Angela Rose Taylor, died.
This young Australian woman was the epitome of rising youth. Constable Taylor was the dux of her squad when she graduated from the academy in November 1984. Described by her superiors as "elegant, smart, efficient and professional", she had a bright future ahead of her in the career she so dearly loved. Angela Taylor's life will not be forgotten, we want to ensure her death was not in vain.
The Angela Taylor Memorial Run assists in funding the Police Excellence Awards for further education, with a direct relationship to community safety.

TEAMS: The team with the first three runners to finish the 10km run will win and retain for 12 months the Angela Taylor/VRR Perpetual Team Shield plus personal trophies.

• Teams are requested to wear a Company, Club or other distinctive T-shirt or singlet to clearly indicate who they are representing.
• No limit to the number of runners in a team, first three runners to finish will determine the winning team.
• Police Teams Events - the first three members to finish in the winning Police Team will receive VRR medals.
