Will of Johann Kranz

Johann Gottlieb KRANZ made this will on the 1st of October 1887 and he died on September 25th 1890. Probate No 43/997, reproduced by permission of the Keeper of Public Records.

"This is the last will and testament of me Johann Gottlieb Kranz, Householder in Murtoa in the County Borung in the Colony of Victoria. I revoke all and every will testament and codicil before made by me and declare this to be my will and testament subject to the payment of my just debits funeral and testamentary expenses first. I give devise and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Johanna Karoline all my goods and chattels and all my other real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever belonging to me except all my money and money securities due to me of which my appointed executors shall have the management of the same during and to the end of my dearly beloved wife's lifetime and further all my money shall always be lent out at best percentage or interest, the percentage or interest shall be paid to my dearly beloved wife every six months in each year during and to the end of her lifetime, further after her death all the above named money or money securities shall be divided by my executors as soon as possible between my five daughters, Ernestine, Christiane, Henriette, Karoline and Maria as follows. Each of my daughters named above shall have equal parts in their share except the first named daughter Ernestine who shall receive twenty pounds sterling less in her share because my other daughters mentioned worked at home longer. Should any of my daughters be dead the children of that daughter shall receive her share. If any of my daughters or her children have received in my life time before and or after this my last will and testament any part or all the money of her or their share this money shall be deducted from the sum of her or their share and shall be divided equally between my above named daughters or if dead the children of that daughter shall receive her share, if any of my daughters or their children being dead the share of her or their money shall be divided equally to my above named daughters which are alive or their children. My son Johann could not be included in this will and testament and shall have no part or share in the same as he has received his share in buying my farm South Hamilton in the County Dundas of Victoria for which he has only to pay eight hundred pounds sterling in all instead of twelve hundred pound sterling a difference of four hundred pounds sterling which I could have received from other parties and which was considered between us before I sold my farm to him. And I appoint Mr. Heinrich Schulz farmer near Murtoa in the County Borung of Victoria and Frederich Schulz farmer near Murtoa in the County of Borung Victoria executors of this my will. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this first day of October one thousand eight hundred eighty seven (signature), signed and acknowledged by the said Johann Gottlieb Kranz the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us being present at the same time and who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witness.
