Art Studies
Carmel Mahony studied extensively with Shirley Bourne and considers that she matured as an artist because of Shirley's meticulous and challenging tuition.

Carmel has had a long experience as an oil painter, taking portrait commissions and producing many still life paintings and interiors. Her plein air works cover rural Victoria, Melbourne and coastal areas, in particular the Mornington Peninsula.

Exhibitions
She has held three solo exhibitions and has participated in several group shows receiving many awards and commendations during her career, her work is represented in private collections throughout Australia, in the UK and also in the USA where she has painted commissions.

Carmel teaches oil painting at Malvern Art Society and has regular private classes in Melbourne and Blairgowrie. She also conducts occasional classes and workshops at the Wangaratta Artists' Society and other art groups.

Membership
Carmel is a member of the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors and Malvern Artists' Society, and is a regular exhibitor with both.
