Born in Melbourne, Ev has
spent most of her life in exploring the state of Victoria and the fascinating
material to be found here. She believes life is found in unexpected
places and beauty in the less than spectacular landscapes. Ev trained
as a Secondary Art and Craft Teacher majoring in printmaking on leaving
school. A later return to University developed the interest in contemporary
art issues and painting. Teaching others gives Ev a contact with
artists at all levels and a sense of satisfaction and sharing.
Her work as an artist has evolved and her use of the watercolour medium
and her sense of who and where we are results in work that gives a personal
slant to the everyday.
Working voluntarily at the
DV LC, APAT Vic Inc and currently AGRA [Australian Guild of Realist Artists]
fosters a sense of giving back for the support she herself has received
over the years. Currently active in the Nillumbik Open Studios program
Ev is enjoying the local connections.
She began full time painting
in 1992 and her work continues to evolve as she pushes the boundaries of
her perceptions and the mediums with which she works. Working
across a variety of mediums from printmaking, on-glaze painting, watercolour,
acrylics and oils she finds the changing technical differences a way to
keep her ideas and vision 'fresh'. Currently her interest in watercolour
and monotypes dominates her work.
