Remembering
Rabbi Akiva on Lag Ba’Omer.
If water drop by drop can cause a hole to form in a rock, Rabbi Akiva realized
he could, at the age of forty, slowly raise himself to become a great scholar.
His wife constantly assured he could do this.

Rabbi
Akiva and Rashbi on Lag Ba’Omer
Long, long ago, in ancient times, there was a great Rabbi, Rabbi Akiva. He
was a simple man who wore simple clothes and sometimes he would play the flute
in praise of Hashem. The simple melodies and tunes would please G-d and make Akiva
very happy.
Then, when there were different times, Akiva’s disciple Shimon Bar Yohai;
also a Rabbi lived in a cave and wrote the Zohar.
Both Rabbis served Hashem simply and truly where respecting his fellow human
being was paramount.
They paved the way for compassion and humility, where every individual is to
be seen as made in the image of G-d. Judaism was richer for their existence, devotion
and inspiration.
