much more...

Healthweb
http://healthweb.org/index.cfm

National Network of Libraries of Medicine and the Committee on Institutional
Cooperation. HealthWeb aims to provide organised access to "evaluated
non-commercial, health-related, Internet-accessible resources". The site has an
extensive list of health topics
and subtopics, including women’s health as well as a search facility.

Mayo Clinic Health Oasis
http://www.mayohealth.org/index.htm
An index site providing information from the Mayo Clinic in the United States.
Includes a number of different
‘centers’ including a women’s health center which provides latest headlines,
question and answers from Mayo
physicians and a collection of articles on various women’s health topics.
OMNI
http://omni.ac.uk/
The Organising Medical Networked Information site provides a gateway to Internet
resources in medicine,
biomedicine, allied health, health management and other topics. A search on the
site results in a list of links,
including a brief summary and the source of the information. Due to its broad
base, the site does not address
women’s health information as comprehensively as some other index sites.
Medical Matrix
http://www.medmatrix.org/
An index site designed for physicians and healthworkers, providing links to
quality, peer-reviewed, full text,
unrestricted access clinical medicine resources on the Internet. A search on the
site provides details of a
number of links complete with an one to five star rating and a brief summary.
The suggested links, however,
are often of a general nature, therefore requiring further searches on the
linked-to site. For example, a search
under infertility provides a five star rating link to the Merck Manual’s Home
page where another search on
infertility would be required.
NOAH
http://noah.cuny.edu/
The New York Online Access to Health website aims to provide high quality, full
text health information to
consumers that is accurate, timely, relevant and unbiased. NOAH provides a
comprehensive list of resources

HealthInsite
http://www.healthinsite.gov.au
An initiative of the Commonwealth’s Department of Health and Aged Care,
HealthInsite provides a gateway to
resources of approved information partners. At present, the topic areas are
somewhat limited so the quick search facility is more helpful. Topic areas and
related resources will be expanded in the near future with the addition
of more information partners.
Health on the Net
Foundation
http://www.hon.ch/home.html
As well as outlining the HONcode principles, the HON website allows you to
conduct a search on a health topic.
Results of searches are broken down into sites that subscribe to the Honcode,
sites that have been visited and described by HON and other sites.
Quackwatch
http://www.quackwatch.com/
This site provides consumers with information on how to detect ‘quackery’ on the
Internet as well as a list of questionable products, services, theories,
advertisements and publishers of health information.
One of the most useful sections of Quackwatch is an index of health and safety
related urban legends,
rumours and hoaxes, many of which are currently being circulated by e-mail.
Check here before you forward
on those e-mails claiming that tampons contain asbestos or that antiperspirants
cause breast cancer!
