Milk Awards Page

Welcome to our page. Here you will hopefully find all the information you need to help you get started in Recording your does milk.

Doe Awards Buck Awards

Recording your does milk over a 24 hour period is called a Q* test. Your doe is stripped out under supervision at a set time 12 hours later the doe is milked, the milk quantity weighed in kilograms and a butterfat sample taken. In another 12 hours the same procedure is repeated. The milk samples are sent to the factory for analysis of butterfat percent. If your doe gives enough milk and over 3.5% butterfat you may be eligible for an award.

You apply for a milk test through the Branch Secretary. The State Milk Awards Officer will send out the paperwork which will include procedures and rules for testing. To test you will need kilogram milk scales and two stewards one who may be a D.G.S.A. member.
