As I sit here at 6AM, can't sleep, the nurse can't take my call at the hospital (busy with an admit), I had to do something to keep my mind and fingers busy! So I decided to give you an update on Amanda.
We had about 5 days that were good, she was doing well and we were just coasting. I should have known that it wouldn't last! They were trying to get her to grow, her vent settings were down to 8 and her O2 was down in the low 20's, life couldn't be better! Well, Friday the ugly head of BPD showed up AGAIN, and with a vengance. She has had several apnea episodes, has pneumonia again, is losing weight, vent now at 30 and O2 back to 50%. YUCK! This again was described to me as "typical" in a preemie her weight and size (now 1 lb. 8.3 oz and almost 30 weeks gestationally). I don't want "typical", I want WELL!!!!!! They had thought her ductus had reopened, but it is closed still. We were happy about that, but now they are uncertain why she got bad so quickly.
Today is also the one year birthday of our angel that went to heaven, sheesh....it makes me wonder how much more I can take...but I will hang in there, I have to for Amanda's sake!!!!! Sorry to sound so down this AM, but I am glad I have this forum to get some of it off my chest!!! Thanks for listening!!!
