Charlie Lovett's Footscray -
John Lack (ed.) 1999
From the introduction - 'In writing this
record of Footscray from its earliest days, I will give facts
which have come directly under my notice so that there will be
no reason to doubt their accuracy. From the time Footscray was
declared a Municipality in the year 1859 till 1866, I have records
from my people. From thence onwards I give them from my own personal
knowledge, and records which I have kept. I never attached much
importance to these, but luckily, I kept them and am prompted
to use them now or they may be forgotten and thus a most interesting
period of the past may never be known. |
