6.00 pm - Visit to the Footscray Cemetery
The first quarterly meeting for 2004 will take the form of a visit to the Footscray Cemetery. We will meet at 6pm at the entrance gate in Geelong Road and visit the graves of some significant people. (No dogs)Ph: 96893820 Saturday 20 March A TOUR TO BALLARAT is planned for 20th March 2004. A 48 seater coach will depart from "Ercildoune" at 9.30am. Cost is $22 per person. The Activities Committee requests that payment be forwarded to the Society's headquarters (PO Box 6371, Footscray West 3012) by Tuesday 16th March or paid at 'Ercildoune' on a Tuesday, between 10am and 2pm. Someone will be available at Ercildoune to receipt and record payments on the three Tuesdays prior to the tour. We look forward to seeing you then. Gwen Goedecke

'The Boys Write Home - from the Western Front to the Western Suburbs': On the 90th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War, Dr John Lack will reflect on his writing of a book based on Western Suburbs diggers and the letters they sent from the front back to loved ones at home.
