Collection
- We have a good collection of local history publications, covering
school,
club, church histories, etc. The catalogue is available online through
the
RHSV website. Go to http://www.historyvictoria.org.au/online.htm
and log on to the Victorian Local
History Database.
Put "VESS" in the box labelled "Society", and you can seach our
catalogue. Records are added progressively.
Many of the books in
our collection are also held in the Local History
Room of the Sam Merrifiel Library, Moonee Ponds. Click

Ephemera Collection -
programs,
tickets, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, souvenirs, Theatre
Programs. The
collection mainly roughly sorted in a vertical
filing system, but cataloguing has commenced. The items which
have been catalogued can be located through the Victorian Local History
Database, as described above.

Collection - In
November 2006
we had more than 2000 catalogued and indexed photographs in our
collection.
Most photos are available for copying to bona fide local or family
history researchers, subject to the usual copyright and reproduction
restrictions.
Real
Estate Plan Collection
- we have a very good collection of real estate subdivisional plans for
the district in this State. The earliest plans date to the 1880s.

Negative Collection,
circa 1987-1998 - there
is no index, but
negatives are organised in rough date order, with an inventory of
contents for each volume.
Place of Deposit for
secondary Council records. The Essendon Historical Society
Courthouse Museum has been designated as a Place of Deposit for
secondary council records (ie, those not required by the Public Records
Office Victoria.) We have some minor holdings from the former
City of Essendon, for which
cataloguing
is not yet commenced. Return to this webpage for updates.
