ABOUT US

The Essendon Historical Society was formed in 1970, and remains active in the local community. In 1980 the EHS opened a local history museum in the former Moonee Ponds Courthouse.  At the Museum you will find displays of photographs and ephemera relating to the history of the district, and also research facilities for family and local historians.

We also have a range of local history publications available - see our Bookshop for titles and prices.

We have monthly meetings at the Courthouse Museum (unless
otherwise notified), from February to November, from 7.30 pm.
We have a variety of speakers on mainly local topics.

The Old Moonee Ponds Courthouse Museum is at 768 Mt Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds, (next to the Police Station).  The Museum is staffed by Essendon Historical Society volunteers.

The Essendon Historical Society Inc is a self-funded, voluntary organisation.  Funds raised by the Society is used to support maintenance of the building, archiving of our collection, publishing of research, and running expenses of the organisation.

Our Postal Address is 768 Mt Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds 3039.
Our telephone number is 03 9370 4607.

If no-one is in attendance, leave a message on our answering machine so
we can return your call.  A landline number is preferred
to a mobile number
owing to the expense of returning calls.
