IS A SPECIFIC INTEREST GROUP WITHIN THE ASSOCIATION WHICH WAS FORMED IN JULY 1995 WITH THE AIMS OF ASSISTING MEMBERS BY:

 

PROMOTING THE STUDY OF THE BACKGROUND OF FAMILIES WHO MIGRATED TO AUSTRALIA DURING THE 1800’s FROM THE AREA OF CORNWALL NOW DEFINED AS THE CENTRAL MINING DISTRICTS, CENTRED AROUND CAMBORNE & GWENNAP.

 FOSTERING INTERACTION BETWEEN C.A.V. MEMBERS WHO HAVE AN INTEREST IN THAT AREA.

 OBTAINING AS MUCH RELEVANT INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE FROM ALL SOURCES AND HAVING IT COLLATED, INDEXED AND AVAILABLE FOR REFERENCE WITHIN THE LIBRARY.

The collection of reference material includes:

Genealogy, Parish Information and Records, Heritage, Mining and Transport.

Many of the Parish Records now held are unique to this Association in Australia.

The Group conduct an annual ‘Trevithick Day’ for the Association during April and, at that time, issue a Newsletter that provides comprehensive listings of its’ holdings, guidelines for researchers, précis of the theme addresses and other items of interest.

It also attempts to provide research assistance at a moderate fee for members who are unable to attend the library.
