Both books are compilation of talks given to the 

Ballarat Branch of the Cornish Association of Victoria Inc

by Lillian Dell & Joy Menhennet, Honorary Historians

 Volumes 1 & 2 are very comprehensive books on the Cornish Pioneers who came to Ballarat. Not only as miners, but as stonemasons, coach builders, engineers, blacksmiths, metallurgists, chemists, boot and shoe makers, school teachers, chaplains, engine drivers and went on to become mine managers as well as sharebrokers, architects, councilors and mayors of Ballarat and Sebastopol.  They were mostly Wesleyan and were preachers and lay preachers in many Ballarat Churches. 

 

Volume 1  -  Has 56 pages, over 35 names and includes 28 names, Victorian Methodist Ministers   

 

Volume 2  -  Has 96 pages, over 80 names and includes the "Cornish Row" Cobblers and  "The Welcome Nugget"  A list of the Ballarat Members Ancestral Names is included.  There are many pictures and the book is a wonderful resource for family history research.
