River Cruises on the "Spirit of Warrnambool" on the Hopkins River at Warrnambool Lake Pertobe Adventure Playground (free), at Warrnambool also at Lake Pertobe are small motorised hireboats & canoes for students Golf Courses Golfers can choose from picturesque and challenging golf courses in Warrnambool, Cobden, Timboon, Terang, Port Fairy and Peterborough. So a school could easily have a sports activity combined with a day at the beach at Peterborough or Port Fairy. DAY TOURS ACTIVITY SUMMARY Groups staying at Brucknell Park can participate in a bus tour to either the Port Campbell National Park, and/or any of the surrounding areas that offer a wealth of learning and fun activities, including Warrnambool. Brucknell Park programmers can also organise specific visits, for example, dairy and/or wildlife park visits, on request. Please enquire of Sheryl or Bob if you wish to include a specific visit or program activity. SUITABILITY A day tour is a recommended activity for groups of all ages using Brucknell Park. However, the camp's duration is usually a determinant of availability for this activity. Trips can still be arranged if they are requested. ACTIVITY AIMS The day tour aims to; * Introduce basic landforms and geography, * Develop an understanding of conservation, * Create an awareness of National Parks, * Explore the shipwreck history of Australian Settlement, * Demonstrate the diversity of habitat in a small region of Victoria, * Discover the contrast of farming, coastal landform and nature parks. CARE OF THE NATIONAL PARKS. Before entering the National Park participants will be involved in a discussion of conservation issues including; * Litter; * Access to areas; * Use of paths. SAFETY PROCEDURES Participants will be informed prior to their day tour by Brucknell Park staff, * Do Not climb safety railings; * Do Not leave the group; * Do Not leave the track. If separated from the group participants will be told to stop, call out and stay put. If groups elect to swim, it is only allowed at a designated "safe" beach. Brucknell Park staff take no responsibility. Groups will ensure supervising staff have the necessary qualification, i.e. current surf life saving, bronze medallion. During the day tour a high level of supervision and support from the accompanying staff will be required, a ratio of 1 adult to 10 students must be present. Students must be accounted for before each departure during the day by the user group. |
