Welcome to the February Newsletter of the Victorian Bookbinders Guild Inc. Hi everyone, Happy New Year to you all, I hope this newsletter finds you all have survived the silly season and now we are running towards the end of the first quarter of the year, so happy 2009 to all and I hope this is a great year for you and your family. This year we start off with our first meeting and I myself will be taking this and demonstrating the bookbinding technique of an 'Under-back repair' of an old book, this will explain and show you the way to repair a book that has had its cover or covers falling off, A way to save the old cover and old spine so that the book retains it originality. Also our mini demonstrating will take off just before this and it will be showing the technique of round cornering, this was done a couple of years ago and some people missed out so I will make sure I bring some samples for you to give it a try, yes its hands on stuff on the 21st of Feb, so we look forward to seeing you all on the dot of 7.00 pm. On a personal note I am afraid to say that I will have to stand down as President of the Victorian Bookbinders Guild Inc.as I my two young children are needing to spend some time to get to know their Grandparents in Queensland and my wife and I are needing to slow down a little, so I hope someone steps up to the plate to become the new President of the Guild and I thank very much Peter Zerbe, Tim Morrow & Peter Lewis for their on going commitment to lead the Guild into the future. I will attend some meetings over the next few months untill the AGM my final meeting, this is when you may see a little less of me as we will me moving up north by the end of the year, I do still hope that I remain a member of the Guild. Regards Milton Watkins |
