Program for 2024

Meetings are held on the first Sunday of every even month at 2pm at Anglesea's History House, 5a McMillan St (Entrance 4, Melway 514:E7), unless indicated otherwise. Outings are held during the week on the odd months. Highlighted dates on future outings indicate changes from normal, or from previous dates. Visitors are very welcome. Please check back for any program changes. No activities on Code Red or Extreme fire danger days in Central region.

Jan - Sorry - No outing in January.
However the Museum is open on the 2nd Sunday of every month 2-4pm (except Jan), and Friday evenings 4:30-8:00pm when the Community House Twilight Markets are on, or by appointment, Susan on 0438 070 560.
4 Feb Meeting Peter McPhee: The story of AIDA (Aireys Inlet & District Association).
Venue: Anglesea Hotel Function Room. All welcome.

Outing Outing to Ballarat Tramway Museum & Begonias, combined with Family History Group. Cost $30 members, $35 non-members, includes transport, morning tea at Botanic Gardens and program. Lunch near lake at own cost.

Sun 14 Apr Meeting Jane Shennan's talk is being rescheduled: Updating the RSL Honour Roll.
Instead, members old and new are invited to come to History House to find out what projects are underway and chat with fellow members. There is no need to book but if you do intend to come and could let us know it would help for catering purposes. We look forward to seeing you there
Tue 14 May Outing Altona Mansion. Travel by bus leaving History House at 9:30am. Cost $40 (members $35) includes transport, entrance, morning tea. Lunch at own cost at local cafe.

Outing Annual Dinner. Prof. Richard Broome AM (President RHSV): Mallee Country - Land, People, History.
Venue: Anglesea Hotel Function Room. Cost $60, includes raffles.

Sun 13 Oct Meeting Annual General Meeting. Venue: History House. Venue changed to the Community House, just across the carpark from HH, because of works fixing the supports of our normal meeting room. Same time, 2pm.

Sat 19 Oct Outing Anglesea Heritage Tours. Visit 12 Heritage properties and hear their story, followed by Devonshire Tea. Booking essential: Jan 0448 526 311. Cost: Adults: $12, Concession: $10, School children: $8. Departure times from History House: 9:00am, 10:30am, 1:00pm and 2:30pm.

Outing Fyansford Paper Mill Heritage Tour including places not open to the public.
Leaves History House at 9:15am. Cost $25 ($20 members).
Includes transport by car, morning tea in nearby park, entry and guided tour, art gallery, lunch at Fyansford Hotel (own cost).

1 Dec Meeting Christmas breakup.
Sun 8 Dec Outing Mitchell Bomber Commemoration.
With the Torquay Historical Society and the Anglesea RSL.
The day’s program will be as follows:
  • 10.00am Buses will leave Anglesea Memorial Hall. Places must be booked. Preference will be given to visitors who are descendants of those involved in the crash.
  • 10.30am Service of remembrance of both RAAF personnel and Search and Rescue people at Pt Addis.
  • 11.07am RAAF Flyover.
  • 12.00pm Loveridge Lookout Commemoration.
  • 12.30pm Lunch at Anglesea RSL (must be booked, preference given to visitors).
  • 2.00pm Program at History House including displays, recognition of each person involved in crash and rescue, afternoon tea, presentation of memorial plants.
    There is an open invitation to the afternoon program, no bookings required.
